Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
We've finally got a touch of autumn weather. I've opened my sliding door wide so that my lounge room can drink in the cool air.

The lounge room looks surprisingly untidy considering I've denuded it of 1.5 cubic metres of paper and moved two big bags of teaching materials and most of my current novel-in-progess material into my bedroom. I suspect guests will have to slip off their shoes tonight and settle into the untidiness, because if I spend the whole day on trying to turn it into someone else's room I won't be making hamentaschen. What will happen to the poppyseed if I don't use it? Nothing. And it would be a very sad 'nothing' at that.

It appears the kitchen is about to heat up just as the lounge room cools down. This is why I have paper cranes and other hanging ornaments in the space between the two rooms. They will take advantage of the air currents and they will dance. Just as well I'm not Christian: dancing on Good Friday would otherwise be quite, quite wrong.

I shall enjoy (and it's not off topic at all, since they're already starting to dance!).

Oh, never heard dancing on Good Friday was wrong. But else? Sounds like fun.

It's enjoyment and enjoyment is supposed to be out on Good Friday. At least, that's what I understood.

Well, depends on the tradition. But close enough.

Ha! Don't confuse Christianity with Churchianity. The latter is based on guilt and rules, the former on a relationship.

Surely, though, even in the relationship version days of sorrow are days of sorrow? It' a respect thing. I don't dance on Day of Atonement even in my most irreligious moments.

Fair enough, I misunderstood what you meant by "wrong", as in THOU SHALT NOT DANCE ON THAT DAY.
It's good to respect others and I'd never dance if it would offend another Christian.

Now I'm imagining putting chains on my paper cranes so that they don't dance on thou shalt not days.
